1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special prized possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”

Ask yourself honestly: “Have I truly received the love of Christ?”

For years, I served faithfully in the church—often behind the scenes—finding fulfillment in helping others. But over time, I began to feel overlooked, as if my efforts didn’t matter. The harder I tried, the less I felt seen—not just at church, but even in my own family.

When I finally shared my heart with my pastor, she encouraged me, pointing out the growth she had seen in my life and the challenges I had overcome. She also helped me uncover the root of my struggle: I didn’t feel chosen. Somewhere along the way, my heart’s “receptors” for love had gotten blocked. I was having trouble receiving the love of Christ—and love from others.

If we fully received the love of Christ, we wouldn’t have to perform, pursue, or strive for acceptance. His love would ground us in contentment, no matter who notices or chooses us. When we truly believe He fought for us, cares for us, and calls us His own, feelings of rejection begin to lose their grip.

The truth is, God already chose you. You are His prized possession, not because of what you do, but because of who you are in Him.

Personal Application:

Where in your life are you still striving for the approval of others instead of resting in the truth that you are already chosen?

You don’t have to fight for God’s attention—you already have it. Rest in His love, and let that be enough

Prayer:

Lord, help me to receive Your love fully. Quiet the lies of rejection and remind me daily that I am chosen, called, and deeply loved. Amen.
