×´I believe God is offering a different path. A path where He can bring healing to our deep wounds. A path where He can bring freedom from strongholds. A path where He can tell us where the traps are and we can step right over them. He can provide wise strategies before we come face to face with difficult circumstances. He can teach us what spiritual weapons to use and when to use them, to not only fight battles, but win battles! And this is how we can live free to do all that God has created us for."

Proverbs 20:27 "The Lord's light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive."
Do you ever walk into a room and it smells so good? Have you walked into a room and it smelled terrible? Have you noticed that when you linger in the room, no matter the smell, most times you no longer notice the smell? I love candles and love when the scent fills the room with its wonderful aroma. But there are times when I have sat in the room with the candle for a long time where I don't notice the aroma as much as I did when I first lit the candle. I have notced the same when the trash sits there because I am too lazy to take it out. We all know that sometimes when you sit long enough it, it becomes unnoticable.
Sometimes, it is the same when we linger in sin or in our negative emotions. At some point, it will become unnoticable because we sat in it too long. When God exposes sin patterns or negative character traits, it is never to hurt or condemn us. In Proverbs 20:27, it states, "The Lord's light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive." God is light, so when we allow God to be the leader of our lives, He will shine some light on areas that could be hinderous to our path. He is shining light on sin, on destructive behaviors, on negative thinking. His light will expose the more we draw closer to Him. Here are a few reasons as to why God exposes hidden motives in our hearts and minds.
First, it is because He loves us deeply. When we love someone, we want the best for them. We want them to be successful in everything they do. The same is true of God. He loves us so much to bless us, but He loves all the more to correct us. Proverbs 3:12 reminds us that "For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in who he delights." Correction doesn't feel good for the child nor the parent. Yet, we do it because it helps set our children on a path of success. God wants the same for us, friends.
Second, the enemy can't keep using it against us. Once it has been brought to the light, we will start to see it more than we did before. Every time we see it, we can bring it to God to help us to address it and overcome it. The enemy wants to keep us in the dark. The last thing he wants is for it to be exposed and brought into the light because that is how he keeps us bound. But once expose, the enemy loses his power and we can walk in victory!
Lastly, God wants to help us to walk in spiritual freedom. God wants each of us to walk the paths He has laid out successfully. It will be really hard to walk out what God has led us to when we are constantly stumbling. The Holy Spirit will expose if we are operating out of fear or rejection, if we are thinking too critically, or having a lack of compassion and grace toward someone. It doesnt't feel good, but the more exposed, the more we begin to step over those obstacles. Allow God to expose it so you can begin stepping over it.
Here is my encouragement, don't sit it. When God exposes sin or negative thinking, whatever it may be, the last thing we want to do is sit in it and entertain it. As soon as we notice we are thinking critically, gossiping, lusting, we bring it to God to help us. The more we sit and linger on it, the more we slide back into darkness, making it less noticable. Be encouraged that God loves us and will help you and I. Allow Him to expose what's in your hearts so you can move forward into what God has planned for you!
