His Prized Possession

Psalm 139:13-14 (NLT) "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it."

While moving into my first home, I had to place all my belongings in storage. As I filled out the rental insurance form, one question asked me to estimate the value of my items. Most of what I owned was used, passed down, or had little monetary value. But there was one thing I couldn’t put a price on: my journals. These held my heart—raw thoughts, prayers, scriptures, and conversations with God dating back to when I was twelve. They were, without a doubt, my most prized possessions.

Have you ever considered that you are God’s prized possession?

Just as I would protect my journals from harm, God fiercely guards and cherishes you. The value isn’t in what the world sees or measures, but in your uniqueness, your belonging to Him, and the significance you carry. Like my journals, you are irreplaceable. There is no copy of you. You are deeply known, intentionally created, and profoundly loved.

Psalm 139 paints a beautiful picture of this truth: God knit you together with precision. His love for you isn’t passive or distant. He is actively watching over you, guiding, protecting, and even hemming you in from all sides.

But it doesn’t stop there.

You belong. There was a season when I questioned if I fit where God had placed me. The enemy whispered lies about my worth and belonging. Slowly, those lies became louder than truth. But one day, God shined His light into my heart, revealing the lie for what it was. I belonged—not because of what I did, but because He planted me. Friend, you belong not just in God’s kingdom but in His heart. There is a seat with your name on it. He is your home.

You are significant. Like the parable of the talents in Matthew 25, God has deposited something uniquely valuable inside you. Whether it’s compassion, wisdom, creativity, or service, He’s entrusted you with gifts meant to be shared. It’s not about how visible or glamorous your calling is—it’s about your obedience. Every small "yes" to God holds eternal weight.

Personal Application:

What gifts has God deposited in you that may be waiting to be used?

Have you struggled with believing you belong or are valuable to God?

How can you begin living like the prized possession God declares you to be?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for creating me uniquely and wonderfully. Help me to see myself through Your eyes. Remind me daily that I am Your prized possession. Silence the lies of the enemy and awaken my heart to Your truth. Teach me to value what You’ve placed in me and to pour it out for Your glory. Amen.
