״I believe God is offering a different path. A path where He can bring healing to our deep wounds. A path where He can bring freedom from strongholds. A path where He can tell us where the traps are and we can step right over them. He can provide wise strategies before we come face to face with difficult circumstances. He can teach us what spiritual weapons to use and when to use them, to not only fight battles, but win battles! And this is how we can live free to do all that God has created us for."

Psalms 23:4 "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me"- ESV
It is hard to comprehend the concept of the Trinity; God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit being one. Even though it is difficult to understand, we can understand that God comforts. Part of the Holy Spirit's role is to comfort each of us. Heartbreak is a great opportunity for us to experience God's comfort. Not that God causes heartbreak, but He certainly does use it. I am thankful for the pain of heartbreak because it led me to know God deeper. I don’t know about you, but when I am in pain, I tend to pray a whole lot more. Even when things are difficult, I can get by, but when I personally experience hurt or emotional pain, I run to God. God doesn’t pull away when things get tough, but He actually steps closer. I absolutely adore my friends, family, and spiritual leaders, but there have been times where there was nothing they could say or do to comfort me. But the Holy Spirit did. He knows what to say, He knows when to say it, and He knows exactly how to comfort us, when no one else does.

During a tough and painful season, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to my spirit. It wasn’t an audible voice, but I heard it very clearly. “I see the pain. I feel the pain that you feel. I can heal you, but you have to walk through the pain. I can get you to the other side of this pain within months. There is no shortcut, but you will not be alone. I will walk through with you, but you have to walk through the pain in order to get to the other side of healing.” He brought me to Psalms 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfrot me.” He showed me that this was something I had to walk through that there was no way around the pain. But He will walk through with me.
The Holy Spirit comforts us by acknowledging the pain, discomfort, or situation we are in. He walks through the darkest valleys along side us. As it bothers us, it bothers Him. As it matters to us, it greatly matters to Him. Then, He promises to help us. He doesn’t leave us there, but He guarantees if we allow Him to, He can help us through whatever it is. He directs us on how we can get through. Sometimes, He will do it all, He will rescue us from the pain or spare us completely. But there are times where He is asking us to partner with Him. As I was led by the Holy Spirit, He comforted me along the way. My part was to walk through the pain, allowing myself to feel every emotion from head to toe, and His part was to strengthen me and comfort me. God never left my side.
What our Comforter does is provide us the strength to keep walking. He provides us the courage to keep pushing through until we experience a breakthrough. I know when someone comforts us, we remember those moments. We remember them sitting with us or encouraging us, or rubbing our backs as we cry puddles of tears. When the Holy Spirit comforts, He will leave an everlasting impression. God will help you as He helped me. I couldn’t have got through any of that without the Holy Spirit.
My dear friend, you may have nights you're crying yourself to sleep, but there is never a night that God is not there, comforting you with His Word, His love, and His Presence. If you are experiencing something that no one seems to have the right thing to say or know what to do or you just are in need of comforter, our Lord Savior provided us with a Helper. You do not have to figure it out or go through this on your own. You are not alone. The next few months, God provided the strength I needed to walk though that dark valley. It was one of the most painful seasons of my life, but He kept His Promise. I made it to the other side of healing. You can too!
